How it works
One connection for your AI. One small program on each machine.
Your AI can only act where it runs. Dashcat carries its requests to the machines you look after and brings the results back, with every action on the record.
How a request travels
Setting up
- 1
Install Dashcat on each machine
A small program for Windows, macOS and Linux, Raspberry Pi included. It sits in the tray and uses about 5 MB of memory.
- 2
Add it to your account
Open an invite link from your dashboard on the machine, or type a short pairing code. The machine now appears in your dashboard.
- 3
Connect your AI once
Add the Dashcat connector to your AI with one address and sign in. It can reach the machines you choose, and you can take that back at any time.
- 4
Ask
From your desk, your browser or your phone. Your AI uses Dashcat’s tools to run commands, read logs, move files and work desktop apps, then tells you what it found.
Two ways to connect
The Dashcat connector is the default. Direct mode is there for machines where nothing should pass through the cloud. You can choose per machine, and a machine set to Direct only refuses the connector outright.
| Compare | Dashcat connector default | Direct mode |
|---|---|---|
| Where your AI can be | Anywhere: the web, desktop and phone apps, or a coding tool | On your own computer, next to the Dashcat bridge |
| What you install | Dashcat on each machine. Nothing where your AI runs. | Dashcat on each machine, and the Dashcat bridge on your computer |
| Who sees the commands | Your AI, the machine, and Dashcat’s cloud passing them on. Output is never stored. | Only your AI and the machine. The connection is encrypted end to end. |
| Reach | Any machine with an internet connection | Machines on your network today |
| Best for | Most people, and anyone supporting machines in more than one place | Sensitive machines and teams whose policy keeps the cloud out |
What keeps each request safe
The machine checks every request
A request from the connector is signed with a key that belongs to your account, names the one machine it is for, and expires within a minute. The machine refuses anything else.
Logged before it runs
Each machine writes what was asked, and by whom, to its activity log before running it. You can read it on the machine or in your dashboard.
Nothing stored in the cloud
The connector passes results to your AI and keeps no copy of command output, files or screenshots.
You can always take it back
Remove an AI’s access in the dashboard, pause Dashcat from the tray, or set a machine to Direct only. Only someone at the machine can switch it back.
In the preview: the Dashcat connector is being tested and is not open yet. Today Dashcat works in Direct mode, with machines on your own network.
